Bio
Upon finishing her B.F.A. in Fibers at Savannah College of Art and Design, Emily moved to Baltimore, and started working as an independent contractor with Greentree Weaving, a nomadic handwoven clothing company, whose work can be found across the country at various renaissance festivals. When she isn't weaving around the country, she comes back to Baltimore to practice her personal art, in which she pours her soul, creativity, and love of color. Her work plays with the way the senses of touch and sight interact with one another, creating explosive texture-scapes that combine traditional fiber art processes - such as crochet, dye, and beading - with an eclectic mix of found objects and recycled materials. These fibrous mosaics are abstractions of her own emotions, channeled through the filter of synesthesia, which she experiences as moving shapes triggered by touch sensations. Her sculptural work is more object based, as she uses large scale creations to express her inner most feelings/demons.
